Fend Shui Tips for Health

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Feng Shui is a way to arrange your space to enhance your life.  It’s also a powerful tool to improve your health.  Here are five simple tips to help you sleep better, reduce stress, boost your immune system and create a more healthy and supportive environment!

1. Relax Your Nervous System

- Declutter! Get rid of anything you don’t need, use or love and keep surface areas clear.

- Put your desk, bed, sofa, etc. in the command position where you have a full — or at least a peripheral view of the door – and your back/head against a solid wall.

- Minimize sharp edges/angles in your environment – especially with furniture. You’ll reduce bumps, bruises and your fight-or-flight response.

2. Boost Your Immune System

- Keep your toilet lids down to avoid spreading germs throughout the bathroom.

- Take your shoes off! Footwear carries dirt, bacteria and chemicals. Why bring it into your home?

- Add plants throughout the home to clean the air and beautify the environment.

3. Get a Good Night’s Sleep with a Calm and Relaxing Bedroom

- Put your bed in the “command position” and avoid sleeping under a window or overhead beams.

- Keep surface areas and the space under bed clear.

- Remove “distractions” including TVs, computers, phones, etc.

- Use calming colors and inviting fabrics.

- Install soft lighting and window treatments.

- Keep mirrors out sight – they activate the energy in the room by reflecting light, objects & people!

4. Reduce or Eliminate EMFs (Electromagnetic Fields)

- Keep electronics out of the bedroom. Replace old, digital alarm clocks with a battery-powered clock or keep your clock away from the bed.

- Do away with the microwave – it produces extremely high EMFs even when not in use; turning it on generates harmful EMF levels. If you must have one, use it sparingly and move 15-feet away while in use. Remember, almost everything can be warmed and cooked with radiant heat.

- Unplug appliances and electronics when not in use; avoid sitting/sleeping close to them.

5. Get Rid of Toxins/Chemicals in Your Home

- Use low- or no-VOC paint.

- Incorporate green building materials whenever possible.

- Opt for organic, natural fiber rugs and fabrics.

- Clean your home with natural products.

- Wash your clothes with chemical-free laundry detergent.

- Check the labels on your toiletries and select soap, shampoo, etc. without harmful chemicals.

- Buy organic produce – skipping the pesticides on food.

Remember that your surroundings matter. Creating a clean, clear, beautiful environment can help improve your health and vitality. Honor your home with daily maintenance and it will support your well-being.

Eat

• Eat organic

• Shop at the Farmer’s Market, local Co-op and organic grocery stores

(Electromagnetic Fields) and reduces the nutritional value and enzymes in your food

• Frequent whole food restaurants that use fresh organic produce and all-natural ingredients
such as free-range meat and wild fish

• Compost to honor the earth

Sleep

• Choose a natural wood bed frame

• Select 100% cotton sheets or all-natural fibers for bedding (hemp works too!)

Tips for Personal Life Mastery

1. Be Present: Be fully aware and in the moment — whether you are washing the dishes,
typing a memo or sharing time with your family. Mindfulness and presence are key to
feeling connected and alive.

2. Get Quiet: Meditate, take a walk in nature or just sit in your car with the radio and phone
off for a few minutes. Breathe, and listen to any messages or clues that come forward.
There’s another level of wisdom you possess that’s just beyond your busy mind.

3. Take a Risk: Stretch — out of your comfort zone. Growth is a result of reaching beyond
what we know and what is familiar. Dare to dream and know that a “risk” is just an
opportunity for something new to come into your life. (more…)

Feng Shui Tips for Manifesting & Enhancing a Love Relationship

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Feng Shui, meaning “Wind & Water,” is the ancient system of environmental placement.
Practiced for more than 3000 years in China, the Western World is now embracing it as a way
to create balance and harmony in our homes, offices, and in our lives. Feng Shui can be a
powerful tool to help us manifest what we want in all different areas of our lives, including
intimate relationships.

In Feng Shui, a nine-box grid called the BaGua is used to map out areas of the home that
correspond to specific areas of life. In Black Sect Feng Shui, the Love & Marriage area is in the
far-right hand corner of your home based on the front door. In Compass Feng Shui, the Love & Marriage area is located in the Southwest part of your home. Both systems are effective in
activating energy and anchoring intention around partnership.

Enhancements for the Love & Marriage Area

• Pictures, paintings, collages, photos and figures of a significant other, or someone who
looks like the one you wish to attract

• Pairs of things such as lovers, doves, dolphins, hearts – all symbols of love, or symbols
that meaningfully exemplify the relationship you desire

• Quotes, affirmations and/or sayings pertaining to love/marriage or relationships.

• Things that have a personal association with love & marriage
Enhancements for the Bedroom

Whether or not your Love & Marriage area is in your bedroom, this room is important in
attracting a partner. A warm, inviting bedroom offers an atmosphere of serenity, sensuality and
privacy. (more…)

Could the Bedroom Be the Source of Your Child’s Sleeping Problems?

Monday, December 1st, 2008

You’ve read every book on the subject… ruled out any medical issues… tried routines, lullabies, rocking… and nothing works. Could your child’s bedroom be to blame for his/her sleeping problems?

According to Los-Angeles based Feng Shui expert, Marie Elena Rigo, the answer is a resounding, “yes.” Having worked with many frustrated parents – and cranky children, she’s seen first-hand that the interior of a child’s bedroom has a significant impact on whether the baby sleeps or not.

What’s the trick? Rigo says, “It’s important to create a feeling of safety and security when we sleep – especially for a child.”

“While many things activate our nervous system such as impending danger, loud noise, bright colors, and sharp edges, there are specific physiological responses that we can directly address through the principles of Feng Shui,” she added. “With a focus on reducing fight or flight response and minimizing over-stimulation from patterns and objects, we can calm the environment so the child’s nervous system can relax – and so can the child.”

Discovered by Harvard physiologist Walter Cannon, fight or flight response is our body’s physiological reaction to stress – internal or external. In our environment, the “fight or flight response” can be activated by sitting with our backs to a door, walking by a coffee table with a sharp edge, maneuvering around wires on the floor, or brushing up against a rose bush laden with thorns on a walkway.
